Our Glue Down Resilient Selection

Glue down resilient floors are engineered for comfort, flexibility, durability, and design. There are two main categories: Linoleum and Sheet Vinyl. Marmoleum is a type of Linoleum flooring manufactured by Forbo Flooring Systems.

Linoleum

Linoleum

An all-natural floor made from linseed oil and wood flour or cork dust, then pressed into sheets.

Marmoleium

Marmoleum

A Linoleum floor made from naturally occurring, rapidly reproducing materials that absorbs more carbon
than it emits.

Sheet vinyl

Sheet vinyl

A synthetic, water-resistant floor made of multiple layers to provide a resilient floor
that can imitate the look of multiple other floor types.

History of Linoleum

Sheet Vinyl: Imitates the appearance of wood, tile, and stone, and is available in hundreds of colors, patterns, and designs.
Linoleum: Solid in color and pattern that’s present throughout the material, ensuring the design won’t fade over time.

Sheet Vinyl: Sheets are installed through a glue-down process, and tiles are installed through a glue-down or paste and peel process.
Linoleum: Installed by gluing the flooring to the subfloor, then welding the seams together. Professional installation is recommended.

Sheet Vinyl: Easy to clean with household floor cleaners – won’t discolor.
Linoleum: Easy to clean, but requires resealing to maintain water resistance.

Sheet Vinyl: Virtually waterproof and great for wet, humid environments. Limited heat resistance.
Linoleum: Due to the presence of wood flour or cork dust, resealing is necessary. Linoleum provides superior heat resistance.

Sheet Vinyl: Sheet vinyl planks generally have a lifespan of 10 to 20 years.
Linoleum: A linoleum floor usually lasts 20 to 40 years.

Sheet Vinyl: $0.50-2 per sq. ft. for sheets and an average of $3.50 per sq. ft. for tiles.
Linoleum: $5-7 per sq. ft. for sheets and $3-5 per sq. ft. for tiles.
